Rubber Band Gun

For younger kids

Time: 40-50 mins

Shooting rubber bands has never been easier than with our new rubber band gun design!

You will make a cool new wooden rubber band with only wooden popsicle sticks!

WARNING: Do NOT aim this at anyone's face or body! Even though a rubber band gun is a lot of fun, it can also be extremely dangerous!

Materials:

5 popsicle sticks (jumbo size recommended)

Scissors

Sharpie or pencil

Ruler

Bottle of glue or hot glue gun

A BUNCH of rubber bands!

Steps:

1. Take one of the popsicle sticks, and draw a tilted line about 85% of the way up to the top.

2. Take a second popsicle stick, and draw a tilted line about 55% of the way up to the top.

3. Copy the line you drew on the second popsicle stick onto a third stick. One easy way to do this without little error is shown below:

4. Cut all three popsicle sticks along the lines that you drew. Make sure to save all six pieces; don’t throw anything away yet!

5. Glue the three pieces together like this:

6. Put the fourth popsicle stick sideways onto the first three popsicle sticks. Don’t glue it down yet!

7. Put the two larger cut popsicle sticks from earlier onto the fourth popsicle stick. Also, mark a new mark onto one of the cut popsicle sticks like this:

8. Cut the small popsicle stick along the newly drawn line, and put the fifth and final popsicle on top of the sticks. Again, don’t glue anything yet!

9. Cut little triangles into the fronts of the two uncut popsicle sticks like this:

10. Finally, glue everything together. Have fun!
